Discussion round. What have we learned? Evaluation
For me it has been a great opportunity because the German academic system is very complicated and the philosophy of a “Integrierte Gesamstschule” is something I really like. In most classes, students sit forming a U for fostering whole class communication. The “Abitur”, exam for going to university, can have be examined orally in one of its subjects and the students spend 3 years for its preparation.
The place oral communication has in all classes is impressing, also in things like electing the students’ representation, where the candidates deliver a speech in front of a few class groups. We went to a room where students can go to relax at the break to play indoor games like billiards, etc.
Finally, giving more freedom to the students fosters their autonomy. They feel they are no children anymore and, therefore, behave better.
Evening
In the evening Cecilia Zarzoso, organized a going-out for me with some of the teachers. THANK YOU CECILIA, CELIA AND ALL THE OTHER TEACHER WHO HAVE BEEN SO KIND WITH ME.
Ha quedado una gran amistad.
